Peace

From "our moving world" to "peace may be all around us", today we have an English song called Peace, which goes from 2:41 to 3:24 in the linked video. I translated it to Chinese on 12/4/19, though I'm still not sure how to translate "Peace" into a monosyllabic word in Chinese. Quora suggested not a monosyllabic word, but the disyllabic 安宁 | ānníng. So be it then. Change implemented during checkup on 25/8/19. At 19:27 on 29/9/21, the line 安宁它在心的地方 takes the form 安宁它就在心房 and then the current form.
On recording day, aka 4/4/25, at 14:[34:15,45:05] I think 但它却还是难找到 isn't very good with that hai shi before adjective, so I change the shi to 很, then 可, then I settle for 好. At 14:45:05 I decide to change 安宁在心在的地方, since the two-syllable anning gives me an extra note anywhere else and this line as is sounds like "Peace is in a new place", not "in the heart's place". Well I just realized I read it as 安宁在心的地方, missing the second zài, but I keep the change anyway :). And then, 18/5/25 13:39, I try to be less literal with 安宁就跟内心一起, changing 就->总 24/5/25 20:00. Let's see!

Our moving world

Speaking of The world has never stopped for a second (quote last post's song), we have two songs about the ever-moving nature of our world, one in Mandarin, and one in Min Nan.
The former is 潇洒走一回 | Xiǎosǎ zǒu yī huí, "Live an unrestrained life", and I met it «around Christmas or sometime after it, probably at lest before Easter» in 2012, and translated it to English way later on Jun 18 2018 (originally «The mortal world surges, / Madness and deep love / Unite and break apart.», then changes «Join and break apart» and «Years don't know how filled with / Sadness the world is»), with three lines being edited on Jun 25 («As our world surges, / Mad and deep love, / Meetings and breakups will take place.»), Jul 3 («Our world keeps churning / Mad love and deep feelings, / Meetings and breakups will take place., and Jul 27 (current version, except for the second change mentioned above, which is still there in the note, but wasn't implemented here), where the error came to my mind after seeing Anton Xie's Hakka version, which will be reported in this post by the way. That version dates to sometime in 2018 before Jun 25, or so suggests his «version 2018» before the song lyrics.
The Min song is 飘浪的海沙 | Phiau-lōng ê hái-sua, "Sand floating on the waves", I met it sometime between Jun 22 and mid-July 2013, and translated it to English way later on Jun 20 2018 with a tweak on Jul 11, and to Czech on Jul 9 2018, in the original version below. Sep 10 2018 15:52 I got corrections:

• "Jsme zrnka písku, které se kutálí ve vlnách/s vlnami" (l. 1);
• "Svět se nezastaví" (l. 3 and 12);
• "Nikdy se nezastaví" (not sure what line that was about; perhaps combined with the previous to "Svět nikdy se nezastavi"?);
• Ah život: musí vždy spěchat (l. 6, the first of the chorus);
• pokud/když se otočíme, za námi jen věje vítr (the next line);
• Typo živost -> život.

I metabolized them at 17:14:

• Number 1 got rejected and the second half of the line becomes «ve vlnami koulí»; it's due to literally translating the English;
• Second one is accepted;
• Third one is rejected on musical grounds;
• Fourth one is accepted;
• Fifth one is rejected on musical grounds with suggestion «Se otočíme a je nic než věje vítr»;
• Last one is accepted, of course.

Sep 22 I got replies to the comments on the corrections, insisting on 1 (7:54) and changing the suggestion for 5 to «Když se otočíme není tam jic, než vítr, který věje» (7:58). I keep my idea, fixing it to «se kutálí s vlnach» at 16:14 and to «se kutálí ve vlnach» at 16:15. As for 5, I opt for «Se otočíme, a není nic než věje vítr» (16:30), which gets us the present version. Let's see them songs!

E anche oggi un isolato. Oggi una canzone di De André, Un giudice, tradotta in Cinese, «traduzione che risale a non più tardi del 29/1/2016, data di ultima modifica di una nota Facebook contenente la traduzione». La cosa è molto più complicata, e quel 29/1/16 dovrebbe essere la data di creazione, visto cosa fa Facebook con altre note, eppure non si trovano screenshot per confermarlo, né il 28, né il 29, né il 30. Comunque la traduzione è di ben prima di quella data. Vediamo un po' quel che abbiamo della storia:

1. Il 13/3/15 posto su Facebook questo post, e subito lo modifico, cambiando le seguenti cose, dove "V" sta per strofa e "L" per riga:
   
   1. «也是他们的多笑话，» originale di V1L4;
   2. «人关于矮人说的真正，» originale di V1L10;
   3. «他们是否有最少» originale di V1L11;
   4. «在怨恨电量的那夜晚» originale di V3L2;
   5. «先带你到圣器室» originale di V3L7;
   6. «没说笑话，只说“启禀大人”。» originale di V4L4;
   io continuo ad avere in mente una V1L1 con 高低 in fondo, corretta dal buon Song Feng il 25/6/16, eppure non appare da nessuna parte; che fosse un suggerimento che ho fatto direttamente a lui e lui ha detto meglio di no?
2. Comunque nella versione finale del post ci sono le seguenti differenze rispetto alla versione sotto, modulo errori di stumpa che ignoro qui come li ho ignorati nel confronto sopra:
   
   1. 爱人 invece di 矮子 in V1L10, V1L11, V2L7;
   2. 到底 invece di 最终 in V3L10;
3. Il primo punto viene aggiustato il 25/6/16 (screenshot alla mano), direttamente nella famosa nota (ora eliminata ma l'ho salvata sul computer prima che Facebook me la cancellasse a casso di cane…); dagli screenshot sembrerebbe che le modifiche avvengano in quest'ordine: V2L7 alle 12:52:21 (presumibilmente), V1L10 alle 12:54:07, V1L11 subito dopo;
4. Il secondo punto è un bel mistero; viene corretto nella nota, ma gli screenshot del 25/6/16 arrivano fino alle 15:35:29 con ancora 到底, e poi la nota sparisce; la bozza di questo post risale al 6/9/18, e in effetti ne vedo la creazione negli screenshot, e alle 15:46:52 si vede quel che pare un copincolla della nota, completo di 最终; quindi abbiamo un intervallo di tempo enorme in cui la modifica può essere avvenuta; non son sicuro se ho guardato gli screenshot del 25/6 oltre alla fine delle modifiche alla nota, magari Song mi ha detto più tardi di far quella modifica? Però lui è venuto per una grigliata, se ben ricordo, una grigliata a pranzo in effetti, quindi a quell'ora là, 15:46, il pranzo era bell'e finito, e se abbandono la nota probabilmente le sue correzioni finiscono lì… a meno che le correzioni siano implementate il 25/6 ma fatte prima, ma i miei ricordi dicono altro, e inoltre la grigliata era di sabato e il 25 era un sabato, vuoi che abbia aspettato ad implementarle una settimana intera? Boh; insomma, quando arriverò a guardare tutti i vecchi screenshot, magari salterà fuori quando ostrega ho fatto questa modifica, o magari addirittura il famoso 高低 di V1L1 che non appare da nessuna parte, ma per adesso "tutto qui".

OK, so today we have a funny little song that has no link whatsoever (at least AFAICT) with any other item on this blog. I met this sometime between Easter and Jun 28 2012 [except it first appears in Session 20 from 13/7 and the 12/7 before that doesn't have it], and translated it to English within the summer (during the summer, I think, in August in fact). [To be more precise:

• I translated it on 13/8/12, as per the famous big intro, and I have the manuscript;
• The mistranslation below first appears, without ll. 12-13, in a 18/8 20:54 file, while a file from 15:27 on the same day doesn't have it; I'd assume that the changes from the manuscript to the file are made on that date, and they are the addition of l. 11, and «Tea, bear, or smoke to fill my mouþ.» and «A big advertisement says» being changed;
• The two lines first appear in a file dated 3/9/12 13:25, and since the song appears in a lyrics file dated 25/8/12 10:51, I assume the translation was completed after that date.]
• My awful Hakka at the time produced the wonderful mistranslation on the left, whereas on the right you find a revised version from ≥15:20 on 6/9/18. On 29/5/21 at 12:24, for the recording, I change «Each man for health will cut off smoke» to the current form. At 15:25, while captioning the video, I realize that, with Zhang Shaolin shaking his hand in front of his nose while singing «Múi-thàu háu không cu-lu̇t-yen», the mui-thau was probably "smell" rather than "taste", so I fix it.

It is a (Huiyang?) Hakka song called 烟仔歌 | Yen-tsái ko, "Cigarette song" (NOT "ash song" as I somehow came to believe), and it is a pretty strong advice to NOT smoke.

Cold sun

Another sorta-kinda love song here, again on the sad side, because repeated wounds are mentioned. A Mandarin song titled 冷冷的太阳 | Lěnglěng de tàiyáng, "Cold cold sun", met sometime between Oct 1 and Dec 9 2011 and translated to English soon after that, oh and to French by the summer, didn't remember that. More specifically:

• The diary entry for 25/11/11 says «Tum est quod et invenio et verto lěng-lěngde tàiyáng» (It is then that I find and translate Lěnglěng de tàiyáng); now, at that point, I may not have clearly separated "understanding/deciphering" from "translating" in my mind, but this definitely gives a lower bound on when this was translated;
• The translation was done on 28/11 during English class; this is the below version, save for «You only can give me», the options «Out of the cold corner […]» and «Out of this corner cold of mine» thich then settle on the below «To get out of this corner cold», the alternatives «I have escaped from the darkness» and «I fro the darkness have escaped», which then come to the below «To let me flee out of the dark», the literal «I am like a cold sun» and «I once also had a burning heart» and «But, being continuously wounded», probably for memory, which then get made into their current versions save for «I once also did have a burning heart», and the literal «Melt the heart of the frost.» which doesn't get musicalized (probably because it essentially already can be sung);
• The first record of the English version is from a 2/12/11 19:45 file devoted to this song, which contains two versions, both identical to the blog version except for the last line, which appears first as «Do melt the heart of frost», and then as «Can melt the heart of frost»;
• The latter version is also sent to my corrector in a 9/12/11 22:10 email; this is also the version in the 28/7/12 file and on the printout where the French manuscript is found;
• The reply to said email, on 9/1/12 at 20:57, has exactly zero annotations to this song;
• The French version, like many others, has a blank space for it in the 5/8/12 19:26 file, and appears manuscripted on the printout of the 28/7/12 file; the manuscript is dated to 25/7/12 by the mega-intro, and is different from the below version in the following lines:
  
  • «On[t] vu déja [->déja vu] trop d’hypochrites», where we have a misspelled "ont" without a -t, a word switch made within the manuscript via an arrow from one word to the other, and a misspelled final word with an -h- too many;
  • «Personne jamais ne -> m’ai / M'a aimé profondement ainsi / Qu’elle m’a fait sortir des ténèbres», where we have a discarded beginning, then the final version of the first two lines (save for the error "m'ai"), and an actual alternate version of the last line, where "sortir" is changed to "m'enfuir" straight after the line is fully written;
  • «Maint’nant je suis comme 1 soleit tout froid», where "tout" replaces the "très" from below;
  • «Mais, feri un foi, une autre, et encore», where "feri un foi" has two spelling errors and one grammar error;
  • «J’e suis comme un souleil tout froid», which was probably starting from "Je suis un soleil tout froid", which come to think of it would be more literal – probably why it was later changed;
  • «Parce que toi / Au cœur tu fonds le gel» for the last two lines;
• All these French differences and errors get fixed in the 18/8/12 15:27 file, save for the last two lines;
• Both those differences in the last two lines get "fixed" only in the 9/7/13 12:22 file, the previous file being 8/5/13 22:08.
