Don’t leave me, Lela

Given all the "important companions" of the last few posts (excluding the Christmas break, of course), it seems a good place to insert a few posts about songs where the singer is asking for an SO's company. For example, today we have Lela, a Galician (nope, not Spanish, and nope, not Portuguese - trust me, I tried to rectify the spelling for both languages and had to conclude it was neither) song I translated to Chinese no later than Dec 14 2012, which puts it in year 2 of Chinese. Why is this post in English, breaking the language continuity? Well, I'm pretty sure that, way back in high school before I knew anything about Chinese, I first tried to rectify the spelling of this song treating it as both Spanish and Portuguese, thus effectively producing translations, and then translated it to English and perhaps Italian, all in one file. Said file is, sadly, unfindable on my computer, so I'm just gonna retranslate it into English for the sake of this post. Did it 18:38-~18:52 Aug 10 2018. Actually, I'm gonna edit the Chinese too, on Aug 10 2018 at 18:30, finishing at 18:36. The edited version is the second one. HEUREKA! I found a printed version of the file, and it's going to appear at post end. It has Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Italian. Date? No idea, but definitely during High School, which means between Sep 2007 and Sep 2012, though I think it was spring so that limits the date options :). Also, I'm pretty sure it wasn't in year 5 of high school, meaning it wouldn't be 2012. Pretty sure it wasn't done while I was busy with Min and Hakka songs just found :). Not sure about simultaneity with Sappho (years 3 and 4)… So let's see this!

Están as nubes chorando
Por un amor que morréu
Están as rúas molladas
De tanto como chovéu

Lela, Lela
Leliña por quen eu morro
Quero mirarme
Nas meniñas dos teus ollos

Non me deixes
E ten compasión de min
Sen tí non podo
Sen tí non podo vivir

Dame alento das túas palabras
Dame celme do teu corazón
Dame lume das túas miradas
Dame vida co teu dulce amor

Estão as numes chorando
Por um amor que morreu,
Estão as ruas molhadas
De tanto como choveu.
Lela, Lela,
Lelinha por quem eu morro,
Quero mirarme
Nas meninas dos teus olhos,
Não me deixes,
E tem compaixão de mim,
Sem ti no podo,
Sem ti no podo viver.
Dame alento das tuas palavras,
Dame celme do teu coração,
Dame lume das tuas miradas,
Dame vida com teu doce amor.

All of the sky's clouds are crying
Just for a love that has died
All of the roads have been drenchèd
So much, indeed, it has rained.
Lela, Lela,
Dear Lela for whom I'm dying,
I wanna see me
In your eyes' lovèly girlies1,
Do not leave me,
And have compassion of me,
Without you, darling,
Without you I cannot live.
Give me breath with your lovèly speaking,
Give me essence from your lovely heart,
Give me light with your glances alone,
Give me life with a love sweet as yours.

1 The pupils (from pupilla, "little girl")
were so called due to the reflection of oneself
seen when looking in somebody's eyes.
All of the sky's clouds are crying
Just for a love that has died
All of the roads are now drenchèd
With all the rain that's come down

Oh Lela, Lela,
Sweet Lela for whom I'm dying
I want to see me
In your eyes' beautiful pupils

Do not leave me
And have compassion of me
Without you darling,
Without you I cannot live

Please let me breathe in some of your sweet words
Let me taste the sweetness of your heart
Shine upon me the light of your two eyes
With that sweet love of yours give me life

Están las nubes llorando
Por un amor que murió,
Están las ruas mojadas
De tanto como llovió.
Lela, Lela,
Leliña por quien yo muero,
Quiero mirarme
En las meniñas de tus ojos,
No me dejes,
Y tiene compasión de mi,
Sen ti no puedo,
Sen ti no puedo vivir.
Dame aliento de las tus palabras,
Dame esencia de tu corazón,
Dame luz de las tus miradas,
Dame vida con tu doce amor.

Le nubi stanno piangendo
Per un amor che mori,
Le strade sono inzuppate,
L'acqua continua a cader.
Lela, Lela,
Lelina per cui io muoio,
Voglio specchiarmi
Nelle pupille tue belle,
Non lasciarmi,
Abbi compassion di me,
lo, no, non posso
Vivere senza di te.
Dammi fiato colle tue parole,
Dammi essenza col tuo dolce cuor,
Dammi luce coi tuoi svelti sguardi,
Dammi vita col tuo dolce amor.
