Deep love - quite possibly the last one :)

I already said just about all I need to say in this introduction to today's 深深的爱 | Shēnshēn de ài in the last post, except that I translated this one only to English, and mostly during the night between 22/3 and 23/3/19, after midnight, with a tweak the following morning and another one («blurred so much» -> «so confused») on recording day 29/4/23 at 14:46/47 while cutting the video. Wanting to record it next weekend, on 24/4/23 at 9:46-10:10 I make a rhyming remake. I show the original on the left, and the remake on the right. On 2/5/23, listening to the vid with mom, I notice that «Can't forget how I swore to love thee» comes out stressed weird. I honestly think I already noticed that earlier and thought of this change then, but anyway, at 19:51, I switch "love" and "to" as below. I'm talking about the rhyming remake, last section, l. 2. 4/5/23 10:16-10:17 «My deep love» becomes «My true love» and «I'll know those lands intimately» gains its «quite» which soon becomes «so» - all of that in the chorus of the rhyming remake. Deep love - the return

Yes, we're back with that title, because the Chinese just can't get enough of songs with it :). After "I love you", a couple of "Deep love" (both in Mandarin, so 深深的爱 | Shēnshēn de ài) is a perfect fit. This one, I translated into English and Italian. I did the Italian wholly on 23/3/19 with a tweak the following morning, and the English soon afterwards, partly on 23 and partly on 24. Let's see them!

Another love song today, but this time in Russian, я тебя люблю | ja tjebja ljublju, "I love you", which I found sometime in Spring or late Winter 2012 and translated to Hakka way later in the morning of Nov 18 2017.
Just to have it in at least one language I actually speak, I tried French. I started with a few random lines around 1:30 on 1/9/19, finished verse 1 and chorus around 3 on 2/9, and did verse 2 between 18:23 and 18:53, to then put it here around 2:30 on 3/9/19. [OK so, the line «Oui, mais la règle, c'est très facile, ma foi» originally started with "bon". The change is untraceable. When I first put the French in here, the line was accidentally replaced by an older version of the following line, namely «C’est bon pour moi c’qui l’est pour toi». Then, this mistake was fixed on 21/11/19 at 11:14, but I don't have a save of that edit, so I cannot presently tell if the "oui" version was there already. It was certainly there on 16/8/20, when I apparently only fixed the Russian transliteration after revising the scheme in the spelling and transliteration post, so I assume it was "oui" in that 2019 edit. Not sure when the change was made anyway.] I don't know where or when, but I read somewhere that "Je t'aime bien" actually means "I like you", not "I love you", so on 25/2/23, thinking about this, at 12:40 I change «Moi je t'aimė bien» to «Moi je t'aime beaucoup», I love you a lot.
To fill the column, I'll put in a literal English rendition that is not singable. I doubt I will try making a singable English version. Let's see it!

Con lo scorso post abbiamo dato avvio a una serie di canzoni d'amore, e quindi la canzone in Swahili di oggi, Malaika, ci sta a pennello. L'ho trovata, nella versione del video, come sottofondo in un film, ho subito capito che era in una lingua Bantù, poi l'ho Shazammata e ho scoperto il titolo, dopodiché ho tirato giù il testo dal video, con non pochi punti di semi-incomprensibilità che ho chiarito con la mia "correttrice" :). Nel frattempo, il 18/4/19 alle 22:27 mentre guardavo il suddetto film, avevo tradotto la prima riga in Cinese ed Italiano, e quindi il 27/5 tra mezzanotte e l'una ho finito il Cinese, mentre la mattina dopo intorno a mezzogiorno e mezzo ho finito l'Italiano.
Il testo che do in Swahili è stato corretto da una parlante nativa, quindi dovrebbe essere corretto. Per qualche bizzarra ragione abbiamo:

• Una N scomparsa, che indico con Ǹ;
• Parecchie N che sembrano H, che indico con ń;
• Svariate i che sembrano e, che segno con ï;
• E il meglio è il nami che sembra yamua/yamwa.

Le riduzioni vocaliche che si possono trovare nel video ho deciso di non segnarle, anche perché potrebbero semplicemente essere delle vocali posteriori invece che centrali come le a italiane. O forse Harry Belafonte ha un accento inglese onde le riduzioni. Le j sono pronunciate come g dolci, tranne quelle coll'accento che sono delle g dure palatalizzate e implosive (preglottalizzate). Le r dovrebbero essere italiane, anche se i cantanti del video le fanno inglesi.
L'interazione con la nativa ha prodotto sostanzialmente una correzione: da «Ti sposerei, tesoro mio» (丰富我想与你结婚) a «Se io non fossi povero» (如果我不这么贫乏) e poi «Se più ricco fossi io». Nel Cinese sono anche indipendentemente andato anche da «姐妹想与你结婚» a «就与你结婚，姐妹», correzioni delle ~19:59 del 29/5/19. Queste discendono dal cambiamento di Ningekuoa in Ningekuwa nel corrispondente Swahili. L'analisi è stata trasferita al blog di decifrazioni. Vediamo mo' le traduzioni!

With the last post we started a series of love songs, so the Swahili song we have today, Malaika, fits perfectly. I found it, in the video's version, as background music in a movie, I understood straightaway it was in a Bantu language, then I Shazammed it and I found out the title, then I got the lyrics off a video, with not few points of semi-incomprehensibility I clarified with my "corrector" :). In the meantime, on 18/4/19 at 22:27 while I watched the above-mentioned movie, I had translated the first line to Chinese and Italian, so on 27/5 between midnight and 1am I finished the Chinese, while the following morning around half past midday I finished the Italian.
The text I give in Swahili has been corrected by a native speaker, so it should be correct. For some bizarre reason we have:

• A vanished N, which I denote Ǹ;
• Several Ns that sound like Hs, which I denote Ń;
• A good number of i's that sound like e's, which I denote ï;
• And the best thing is the nami which sounds like yamua/yamwa.

The vowel reductions that can be found in the video I decided not to mark, also because they could just be back vowels instead of central vowels like the Italian a. Or maybe Harry Belafonte has an English accent whence the reductions. The j's are pronounced the English way, except the ones with the accent mark which are palatalized hard and implosive (preglottalized) English g's. The r's should be Italian (rolled) r's, though the singers in the video make them English-style.
The interaction with the native has produced essentially one correction: from «Ti sposerei, tesoro mio» (丰富我想与你结婚) to «Se io non fossi povero» (如果我不这么贫乏) and then «Se più ricco fossi io». Independently, in the Chinese, I also went from «姐妹想与你结婚» to «就与你结婚，姐妹», corrections dating to ~19:59 on 29/5/19. These descend from the change of Ningekuoa to Ningekuwa in the matching Swahili. The analysis was transferred to the decipherment blog. Let's now see the translations!

Really love you

We keep on our love theme with a Mandarin song, 我是真的爱上你 | Wǒ shì zhēnde àishàng nǐ, "I'm really in love with you", which I met sometime between October and Christmas 2013 and translated to English soon after that, I guess, but definitely within that schoolyear. Nah, just kidding, I only translated it on 9/1/18, partly around 00:30, partly around 10:29. Then at some point between May 7 and May 9 2019 I saw a Hakka Verse post with Ånton Xiè's Hakka version, and decided to include it below. Let's see them translations!

The power of love

As we saw two posts ago, love can work wonders, and this is what today's Hokkien song 爱情的力量 | Ài-tsîng ê li̍k-liōng, "The power of love", is all about. I met with it during the Easter holidays of 2012 and translated it to English soon after that. Once again, after this fucking restart for no reason that lost almost all of the edit to this which I had almost completed, there is a bit of a complication to this song.

1. I translated it to English during English class on 16/4/12, between Tsí-ū lí and Wàng bù liǎo, giving the original version, reported exactly as it is in the notebook, corrections and all;
2. Then, as per the big introduction I will soon edit into The history of my translations, I lost the translation and remade it on 26/7, writing it by hand on what is presumably a printout of the 28/7/12 11:01 file's part for Chinese; I'm pretty sure that is the file I printed on 25/7 to write translations on, and the 28/7 edit is to add Japanese songs at the end; this gives us the 2012 remake;
3. Then I presumably recovered the translation and drew inspiration from it only to change «too» to «as well» in l. 4; the first file the translation appears in (the left-hand version) is from 18/8/12 15:27, giving us almost the 2012-2018 remake, we have just the changes I listed in the old intro to this post: «"Drop the fight" was because the captions had a character for the "koh" in "koh-tsai" that meant "stop", I fixed that somewhere between 21:16 of 18/8/12 and 3/9/12 13:25. While writing this draft on Sep 5 2018, I realized that, with my horrible Min back in the days, I had mistranslated a couple of lines, and changed «Not just future’ll be changèd / All laugh at you, no way t’ go» to «Not just your future will be changed / All laugh at you that there's no point» around 18»;
4. Then, «on 24/6/21 at 13:05 I think I may better rework the whole thing, and start at 13:06 by changing «Get out courage, fight again!» to «Be a brave man, fight again!». At 1:01 of 27/6/21, I then start continuing, after a substantial update to this intro. I change the «grieves for lovẻ» lines at 1:02, the madness line at 1:03, «Not just your future will be changed / All laugh at you that there's no point» at 1:19, «Who has no ideals? / Who has not a pain?» at 1:19 (about 1/2min after the previous change), and «Feeling in the heart sorrow» at 1:20»; this gives us the final version below;
5. Finally, to not have to choose between splitting the many translations over two columns or having to re-center the English, I translated this to Italian between 12:08 and 12:11 of 20/2/22; as I record it on 17/9/22, at 12:44 I realize «Non cambia solo il futuro, / Ma che importa se tutti ridono di te?» doesn't really fit the tune, so I make the below version; at 0:32 the following night, I abolish «Anche un eroe per amore può penar» to keep the partial repetition of the previous line in this one; eevn later that night, at 1:22, I change «Chi non sogna mai? / Chi non soffre mai?» to the current form.

By the way, the song also has a Mandarin version which I bumped into in summer 2017 while looking for the video to put in the Chinese song post. Anyways, let's see our song!

The things that I see

Talking about wonders, today we leave love for a second, and see a blind man overwhelmed by wonder and a rollercoaster of emotions after being given his eyesight which he had never had, in an English song called The things that I see, which I translated during a bout of insomnia in the night between 30/8/18 and 31/8, except for a couple things I did the following morning, then I made a couple fixes that morning and one in the afternoon, then on 3/9/18 I posted on Quora about an uncertainty I had about a line of the translation, and Mr. Zhang chimed in and I ended up posting the original version below in the comments (with an alternate option «见到的事情 / 让我笑得就像孩子! / 见到的事情 / 让我哭得像男人!» for the first half of the chorus, and with the uncertainty fixed as per the answer, whereas the below version will have «直到泼剌洗走了黑暗» and my other idea at the time was «一溅水就洗走了黑暗») and he gave me a number of corrections which I implemented in the final version which I uploaded to Youtube just the afternoon before I wrote this draft, 4/9/18. Now that we're through with the story time, let's see this song!
